A day in the life...

Acro colleagues giving us an insight on what it’s like to work here on a day to day basis.

Ben Hilder

Production Manager

Tell me what your role involves?

As Production Manager I am responsible for leading the production teams and associated operations daily. Our mission is to ensure we build our aircraft seats to the highest quality and deliver on time for our customers.

What is a typical day like?

In the mornings we hold a host of stand-up team meetings across production teams to review cell by cell progress, priorities and discuss any arising issues or interruptions. I work closely against the Production Plan, to ensure all our product lines are on track and our teams have everything they need to build the seats. Daily, I collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Planning and our Warehouse operation. Every day at Acro is different with new challenges and we are always working at a pace. It’s a fantastic opportunity to support the full Production process and ensure our seats go out the door on time!

What attracted you to Acro?

Acro is a high growth company with lots of opportunity to progress, they invest and support you in personal development and certainly live the company values. Since joining Acro as a Team Leader I have now progressed on to work as the Production Manager and look forward to developing further within our exciting industry!

What do you enjoy about working at Acro?

There are always new opportunities to showcase your skills and take on new challenges. I was given the opportunity to go out to Shanghai to set up and install a new production line and train a team of staff on our processes in preparation for our second site approval. Acro is a growing company with family feel, a company that encourages you to take ownership and responsibility and make a difference.

What did you do before you came here?

I originally started my career within the hospitality industry as a Chef but due to a long commute I started to explore new opportunities. I joined Sony DADC which was my first experience in a production environment, I stayed here for ten years and developed as a Manufacturing Team Leader before progressing on to work for Acro.

Tell me something interesting about yourself

I used to play darts in leagues and competitions as well as being a part time personal trainer. Through personal training I did a trial period of body building and ever since revealing this fact to Acro colleagues I am constantly challenged for an arm wrestle at our many company social events!
